Yoga is a light which, once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame.
B.K.S. Iyengar
The practice of yoga fills up the reservoirs of hope and optimism within you. It helps you to overcome obstacles on the path to health and contentment. Yoga is never purely physical. Asanas, if practiced correctly, bridge both the mind and the body. The word ‘yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root “yuj” which means “to join” or to “yoke” or “union”. The union of the body and the mind.
The primary aim of yoga is to restore the mind to a place of simplicity and peace. Freeing the mind from various confusions and distress. This sense of calm comes from the practice of yogic asanas and pranayama. Unlike other forms of exercise which can strain muscles and bones, yoga gently rejuvenates the body. By restoring the body, yoga frees the mind from the negative feelings caused by the fast pace of today’s modern world.
Yoga is an ancient art. Most people know the practice of yoga makes the body stronger, more flexible and better balanced. However, good health goes far beyond that and is the result from each part of the body and mind being in harmony. The benefits of yoga are countless and are a vital part of everyone’s life at any age or ability.
Yoga is for everyone!
Unless freedom is gained in the body, freedom of the mind is not possible.
